Farm Home Burned
Last Saturday afternoon the residence of the Coats farm, on highway 10 three miles west of Fairchild, and occupied by Ernest Rieder and family, was destroyed by fire. Mr. and Mrs. Rieder and their son were in Humbird at the time of the loss, and owing to lack of telephone facilities it was some time before neighbors could locate them. The house was a large square two-story building and basement. Neighbors removed party of the household belongings from the first floor, but were unable to get anything from the second floor or basement. The loss to Mr. Rieder and family is about $1000, partly covered by insurance. The house was valued at $3500, which was insured by the owners. The family found temporary quarters at the home of their daughter nearby.
