Johnson, Charles (26 Dec. 1891 - 3 June 1940)

Charles Johnson, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Johnson, died Monday at his farm home north of Loyal, after a long illness. The remains will be brought here for burial, and services will be held at the Methodist Church at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Johnson was 48 years of age.

Charles Llewellyn, son of Henry L. and Caroline Johnson, was born at Humbird on Dec. 26, 1891, and died at his home east of Loyal, on June 3, 1940, at 3:45 o’clock at the age of 48 years, 5 months and 7 days. He attended school in Humbird until twelve years ago, at which time he moved to Osseo with his parents.

In 1908 the family moved to North Dakota, where they spent sixteen years and then returned to Wisconsin. About eighteen months ago he and his brother-in-law; Herb. Phillips rented a farm near Loyal, at which place he passed away, after an extended illnesses. Mr. Johnson was unmarried.

He leaves to mourn his death his parents; one brother, Ira Dean, of Long Beach, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Vesta Erickson, of Chili, Mrs. Dorothy Putman, of Janesville, and Mrs. Ruth Phillips, of Loyal. He also leaves one uncle, J. C. Johnson, and one aunt, Mrs. Jennie Livingston, besides a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in this village Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Orlando A. Jewell, of Loyal, officiating, and burial was in Mentor Cemetery. The services were attended by many friends of the family, and many beautiful flowers were banked about the casket. Rev. and Mrs. Jewell sang, "Under His Wings," "In the Garden," and "Sunrise."

Besides the immediate family attending the services, were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Adler, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Johnson, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Orve Brownell; Mr. and Mrs. Val Manthei, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Englesby, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lightfoot, Mr. and Mrs. A. Raymond, Eau Claire.
