Local Happenings

A daughter, 7 lbs, 1 ½ oz., was born to Rev. and Mrs. Victor D. Weidler, at the Krohn Hospital, Sunday, June 30th.

Miss Catherine Servaty, of Fresno, Calif., accompanied Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Fristad from Eau Claire last Sunday for a visit at the home of Mrs. A. Bradstedter. Miss Servaty was a former neighbor of Mrs. Brandstedter and family.

Francis Johnson received an arm fracture Tuesday forenoon while helping repair one of the pea viners of the Canning Co. He was one of a crew making the repairs, and fell from the top of the ground. Mr. Johnson’s arm was x-rayed showing the fracture in the elbow.

Congressman Merlin Hull is spending the few days of recess of congress at his home at Black River Falls. Mr. Hull is speaker at the Fourth celebration at Augusta this Thursday.

Arthur Smith, wife and two children of Kenosh, visited at the home of his mother, Mrs. Geo. Squires, Sr., the past week, and Mrs. Squire’s mother, Mrs. Larabee, and brother Charles, of Bristol, also came over the Fourth.

Mrs. Fred Jenswold together with her mother drove with her brother Henry Wittren, of Altoona, to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to visit her brother Arthur.

Harry Hart had been at work in the town of Hewett measuring farms on the soil conservation program.

The Rundle and Wilbur families picnicked at Lake Eau Claire on Wednesday, June 26th, in a grand birthday celebration. Just how many birthdays were linked in the party we cannot say, but it was Veteran Rundle’s 78th anniversary. It was one of the finest days of early summer, and Mr. Rundle says he doesn’t remember rainy or stormy birthday. And our thanks for a generous piece of fine birthday cake.
