Willmare, Frank M. (17 Apr. 1897 - 31 Oct. 1947)
Frank M. Willmare, 50, who came to Unity two months ago, died of a heart ailment at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Kopps, where he has been staying. He was in poor health for some time.
Mr. Willmare operated a restaurant in Chicago before locating in Colby last spring to enter the tavern business. He was born in Madison April 17, 1897, and was married in Chicago, Sept. 22, 1945, to Mrs. Elsie Purkis.
Surviving besides his widow are three stepchildren, Lorraine Purkis, Chicago; Floyd Purkis, Lisle, Ill.; and Mrs. Timothy Curtin, Unity.
The body lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby, where funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. At 2 o’clock another service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, the Rev. J. A. Olson officiating, and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Mr. Willmare became a member in the Trinity Lutheran Church recently.
Pallbearers were Gust Carlson, Martin Evenson, Ed Mews, Glen Misener, Forrest Johnson and Otto Erickson. The flower girls were Mrs. Gust Carlson, Mrs. Martin Evenson, Mrs. Ed Mews, Mrs. Glen Misener, Mrs. Forrest Johnson and Mrs. Sam Stark.
The Lutheran Choir sang, "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lorraine Purkis and family, and Mar? Kops of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Purkis, Lisle, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kops and daughter, Karen, of Hilbert; Mrs. Arthur Kurth and son, Herbert, of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Hentges, Plainfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Curtin, Marshfield.
