Gregory, William E. (1862? - 1940)
William E. Gregory, life long resident of Humbird and Alma Center, died at Stevens Point Monday, on his 78th birthday. Mr. Gregory had been in failing health for about three years, but had kept up and about until a very short time ago. His long residence here was broken by the death of his wife three years ago, after which he went to Stevens Point to live with his daughters. For many years Mr. Gregory followed the threshing work and his machine was a familiar sight on nearly every farm in these parts during the fall months. And in the winter the traction engine was used to operate a portable saw mill.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Faber who reside in Stevens Point, and four sons, Mack, of Milwaukee, Robert and Harry in Flint, Mich.; and Omar, who is employed out of Minneapolis.
Burial services were held in the funeral home at Stevens Point Wednesday afternoon and the remains were brought to Alma Center for interment beside his wife in the cemetery there.
