Pogodzinski, Bernard (August 15, 1907-October 31, 1992)

Owen--Bernard Frank "Barney" Pogodzinski, 85, Owen, died at 5:29 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, with the Rev. John Steiner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Pallbearers will be Eric, Bradley and Victor Pogodzinski and Anthony, David and Michael Friedenfels.

Visitation will be at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, after 4 p.m. today. The Holy Rosary Parish Council of Catholic Women will have a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. today followed by a prayer service at 8 tonight, both at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Chicago, to the late Frank and Leokadia (Gurney) Pogodzinski. At the age of 8, he moved with his parents to Thorp. He married Agnes Zawadzki Feb. 9, 1932, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp.

As a young man, he moved back to Chicago. He later returned to the Thorp area and moved to Longwood. He worked as a salesman of farm machinery and owned and operated Barney's Implement between Withee and Owen, Wis. He moved to Marshfield in 1960 and was the caretaker at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He retired in 1975 and moved to Owen, Wis.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Lillian) Friedenfels of Withee, Mrs. Gerald (Therese) Maass of Wisconsin Rapids and Susan Gambetta of Milwaukee; six sons, Victor and James, both of Milwaukee, Jerome of Sherwood, Dr. Anthony of Minocqua, Frank of Withee and Thomas of Dousman; one brother, Albert of Owen; four sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Stella) Frank of Spencer, Hattie Swiontek of Chippewa Falls, Bernice Morgan of Chicago and Ann Smoller; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one brother, Leon, and five sisters, Elizabeth, Jenny, Victoria, Frances and Celia.
