Luther, Jeanette (Marriage - 11 Oct. 1944)
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church at Loyal was the scene of a pretty fall wedding Oct. 11 when Miss Jeanette Luther, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Luther became the bride of Raymond Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller of Unity. The Rev. August Quandt of Coloma, brother-in-law of the bride, officiated at the 2:30 o’clock service read before the flower-banked altar. "Because" and "O Promise Me" were sung by Loravne Miller and Lucille Schultz. Attendants were Miss Isabelle Miller, a sister of the groom, maid of honor; Lorain Luther of Wausau, a cousin of the bride, best man; Miss Genevieve Leffel of Marshfield, bridesmaid. Laverne Luther of Marshfield, cousin of the bride, groomsman. For the occasion the bride wore a white chiffon gown made with full-length bishop sleeves and a long skirt ending in a train. Her finger-tip veil edged with lace was caught to a seed pearl crown and she carried white gladioli and white roses and a prayer book. For jewelry she wore a gold locket, a gift of the groom. Miss Miller and Miss Leffel wore white net frocks and matching blusher veils caught to their curls with white flowers. Both carried white gladiolas and wore pearls, gifts of the bride.
A five o’clock supper was served to relatives and friends at the Luther home where the ceiling was festooned with white streamers centered with a wedding bell and a large wedding cake centered the table. Fifty guests attended the reception held at the home of the bride’s parents.
The couple are now at home to friends on route 1, Loyal, after spending a week’s honeymoon in southern Wisconsin. The groom is a graduate of the Colby, Wis. High school and is engaged in farming. His bride was graduated from the Spencer high school.
