Local Happenings
Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Watson and children, of Port Edwards, spent Sunday afternoon here with Mrs. Watson’s sisters, Mrs. R. M. Russell.
Ed Bleiler and family. A. W. Short and family, and the Misses Fern Barkley and Marjorie Russell drove to Baldwin Sunday and had dinner at the park.
Fred Theiler went to Osseo with the truck Monday afternoon, and moved Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Rorabeck’s household effects to Augusta.
Prospects for the finest crop of strawberries this section had for a number of years have been dampened by continuous rains. Berries are good quality and the price hold firm.
Ike Mathews and family have retuned from a trip to Wittenberg, where they visited Mrs. Mathew’s people, and where he was looking for employment. They returned by way of Wisconsin Rapids.
Mrs. R. M. Russell was called to Alma Center Tuesday forenoon by the serious illness of her father, G. H. Schlegel.
Henry Stallard went to Altoona Tuesday.
There was quite a crowd at the highway hearing on the proposed location of a new highway into the Erb farm last Saturday. The petition was sponsored by Frank Benish, present owner of the farm, and had about sixty singers. After going over the ground the board rejected the petition. A suggestion was made that another route be selected.
N. S. Fristad attended the funeral of Carl Reichenbach at Merrill Tuesday afternoon.
Geo. Woodford, Sr., was at Eau Claire on business last Friday.
Robt. Schwarz, wife and little son have gone to Joliet, Ill., for a short visit with her people.

Dr. S. G. Schwarz moved into his new office Monday, and has the rooms about settled and ready for use. The building was remodeled by lowering the ceiling and putting a partition through the center of the front room, making a reception and a consultation room. Dr. Schwarz will arrange the regular office hours later.
Ralph Lines, of Hebron, a cousin of the Fradenburg Brothers, is visiting here while his parents are transacting business in Eau Claire.
Two home injuries have left their painful effects upon two of the good housewives of our village. Last Thursday Mrs. W. E. Waters while cleaning a room at her home injured an ankle which confined her to her home for several days. Sunday evening, Mrs. Sadie Creviston tripped on a rug and fell, striking her head and causing a concussion. She was unconscious for some time after the fall. Both are nearly recovered from the accidents.
John Stuve drives a new Ford truck.
There will be a dinner served at the Fairview church on Sunday June 30th, and games and refreshments and also music at the pavilion afternoon and evening. Everybody is welcome.
Mrs. Chas. Winscher has been busy several days this week giving the Reformed church a thorough housecleaning.
New cases of mumps are reported among the youngsters. None serious.
The daily vacation Bible school, conducted in the basement of the Reformed church last week and this by Rev. Weidler, has been quite successful. Contagious diseases amongst the children and weather conditions, and also the uncertainty if a school could be held this year or not reduced the enrollment, but there has been an attendance of twenty-three for the course.
