The Rev. David Grether, aged 55, pastor of the First Evangelical Reformed church in Colby died suddenly early Monday morning at his home in Colby, the result of a heart attack. He had not been seriously ill and on Sunday had conducted his regular church services. The deceased was born in Poland, Ind. July 15, 1889 and received his education at Mission House College at Plymouth, graduating from there in 1915. On Aug. 30 of the following year he was married at Black River Falls to Anna Marie Stucki. After his graduation he served at Neillsville for nine years, then spent 17 years at Magley, Ind. before going to Colby in the fall of 1942 to assume the pastorship of the Evangelical and Reformed church.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at his parish church with the Rev. Elmer Jaberg of Sheboygan, the president of the Wisconsin Northern Synod and the Rev. Edwin Worthman of Kiel officiating. Burial will be made at Black River Falls.
