Schjonneman, John L. (6 May 1880 - 12 Sept. 1945)

John L. Schjonneman, aged 65 years, died very suddenly at his farm home in the town of Brighton, Wisconsn Wednesday morning, Sept. 12, the cause of his death being a stroke. Mr. Schjonneman had made the town of Brighton his home practically his entire life and was a well known and highly respected resident of that community. The funeral services for Mr. Schjonneman were held at the farm home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at 2:30 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran church in Unity, with the Rev. Arthur Almquist in charge of the services. The body was taken to the home from the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby.

John L. Schjonneman was born May 6, 1880, in Oxford, N.J. and came to Unity with his parents when he was a year old, residing in this community since that time. Two years ago he retired from farming and spent a year in Marshfield, but in April of this year went back to his farm home. He was married at Unity Dec. 14, 1907, to Edith Ringquist, who survives with five children: Mrs. Ed Witte of Colby; S-Sgt. Ernest, enroute from Germany; Mrs. Robert Kester at home; Mrs. James Leibelt of Stratford and Gordon at Colby; six grandchildren and one brother, Mogen, also survive.

In 1927, together with his family, he joined the Trinity Lutheran church in Unity, to which he remained until his death.
