Schmitt, Elvera (Marriage - 22 Sept. 1945)
The marriage of Miss Elvera Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmitt of Cherokee, and Walter Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Johnson of town of Unity, took place Saturday at two o’clock at the Lutheran church in Colby with the Rev. Hoffman performing the ceremony. Miss Verna Johnson, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Other attendants of the bride were Mrs. Melvin Ayer and Mrs. Roy Justman Jr. Elroy Schmitt acted as best man and Melvin Ayer and Roy Justman Jr. were the groomsmen. Mr. Lutz of Colby played the wedding march and the Misses Elaine and LaVon Domer sang: I Love You Truly, accompanied at the piano by Miss Maxine Salter. A 4:30 dinner and reception was held for relatives and friends at the bride’s home.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left for the north country for a short honeymoon. On their return they will be at home to their friends on the groom’s farm in the town of Unity.
