Section 10 of Unity township contains a cemetery that has been ignored and forgotten.

It is my understanding that the land was owned by the Chapman family in 1880, and later farmed by a George Miller, a couple of years ago we went to the farm and asked if we could go out and look for the stone that is suppose to be there, we were given the ok, even though he said it was a waste of our time as he thought the graves were all of "Indian people", and since I do not look Indian he assumed that there was no connection.

We later found out that we were not given very good directions by the person living there as to find the stone we were looking for though he did say that it is still there, and that its a flat stone with a bunch of names on it. After I came back to the yard without finding the stone he said again that "its out there", When I asked if he could tell me what names were on the stone, he said that I should talk to George Miller he then sent us into section 3 of Unity township to find George Miller, his daughter now lives there, and said that she remembers the stones being there and that when her father farmed there he left the wild roses grow around the edge to mark it off from the rest of the field, but that now it is plowed right up to it and thats not the way it was suppose to be.

She then sent us to town to meet her father and George was a delightful man with memories of the family that had lived there and said that yes the stone is a flat stone tight to the ground, he talked about the family and said that there may be as many as 18 people buried there. He talked about the Indians camping there, he said that if you stand at the lone pine tree in the field and then walk towards the barn you will find the stone, that it is not up next to the pine tree as many people have thought. The location of this forgotten cemetery is Church Rd East to Division and turn on Division, on the left side (East) in the field you will see the lone pine tree.

I think that this is the resting place of the Chapman family and related individuals that are buried there. I have found no record of this cemetery. But think that it should be noted in the history of Clark County.
