Julius Hagedorn, 87, of Neillsville, died Friday, Dec. 10, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville, Wis.
Julius R. Hagedorn was born on Dec. 14, 1916 in the Town of Weston, Clark County, the son of Paul and Mata (Wegner) Hagedorn. He attended Fairview School until seventh grade. He married Henrietta E. Poppe, May 12, 1940. He and his wife farmed on her home farm for 60 years. They moved to Country View Apartments in Neillsville in 2001 and then to Memorial Nursing Home in 2003. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church being baptized and confirmed there, in fact, he was the first baby ever baptized at the new church. He farmed in the Town of Weston most of his life. He served on the Clark County Board for many years representing District 11. While on the Board he served on various committees. He was also on the Fairview School Board and after that was a bus driver for the school.
He is survived by three children, Patricia Strangfeld, of Neillsville Pastor Harold (Kathie) Hagedorn, of Wawatosa; Charles Hagedorn and fiancé, Carol Oryszczyn, of Neillsville, Wis. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Carey (Brian) Hartwig, of Medford; Karen (Charles) Statz, of Neillsville; Kay (Randy) Waldhart, of Stetsonville; David Hagedorn, of Monterey, CA; and Katie (Matt) Schlomer, of Lannon, and nine great- grandchildren,Brandon,Bradley,Brittney,Brent,Christopher,Amanda,Megan,Claudia and Roy and also a great-great-grandson, Dameon.
Julius is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mata; wife Henrietta (May 21, 2004); sisters, Erna Schuleter, Evelyn Krause, Lillian Marg, and Helen Nemitz; brothers, Louis and Herman, and a son-in-law.
Memorial services for Julius were held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe. Pastor Daniel Cole officiated.
Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted the family with the arrangements.
