Higgins, Grace Marjorie (22 Oct. 1911 - 25 Jun. 1991)

Services for Grace Marjorie Higgins, 79, formerly of Marshfield, who died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeland Nursing Home, Elkhorn, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hansen Funeral Home.

The Rev. Larry Moody of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Duane Helgerson will be soloist, and Joyce Weir will be organist.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemtery. Relatives and friends will be pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 22, 1911, in Larimore, N.D., to the late Fred Wesley and Sadie Elizabeth (Wilson) Alyea. She moved with her parents to Minneapolis and then to Lynn in Clark County. She was a graduate of Neillsville High School.

She was married to Owen W. Higgins Sept. 7, 1929, in Rockford, Ill. He died May 22, 1961.

She and her husband lived in Janesville before they moved to Marshfield. She was employed by the Hotel Blodgett and later worked on a part-time basis for Figi’s Inc. She became a resident of the Marshfield Living Center three years ago and remained there until she moved to Lakeland Nursing Home on March 1.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and its Silver Circle. She was also a member of the Marshfield Historical Society.

Survivors include one son, Gordon W. Higgins of Sun Prairie; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Judith Anne) Kidder of Lake Geneva; three sisters, Mrs. Norma Davis and Mrs. Frederick (Margaret) Fornefelt, both of Marshfield, and Mrs. Lela Fosholdt of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one son, Gerald, in November 1984 and two brothers.

Memorials may be designated to Wesley United Methodist Church of Marshfield or Marshfield Medical Foundation for research of Alzheimer’s Disease.
