Hetzel, Ray G. #2 (23 Jun. 1918 - 18 Apr. 1987)

Neillsville - Ray G. Hetzel, 68, Route 1, Granton, died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at the York Center Methodist Church Wednesday with the Rev. C. Arlene Denzer officiating. Burial will be in the York Center Cemetery at 1 p.m. followed by memorial services at 1:30 at the church.

Pallbearers will be Donald Kirn, Clarence Wegner, Donald Boon, Ronald Froeba, Erlin Dahl and James Rudall.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, Wis.

He was born June 23, 1918, at Neillsville, to George and Mary Hetzel and attended the Forman school, town of York.

He married Lucy R. Krutsch Dec. 31, 1938, at Neillsville, Wis. She survives. They lived in Marshfield, where he was employed by Roddis Plywood Corp. for three years, then moved to a farm in the Loyal area which they operated until 1949. when they moved to their present farm in the town of York. He also owned and operated a trucking business for 37 years.

In 1968, he was elected to the Clark County Board of Supervisors, and held that office until he retired at the end of the past year because of his health. While serving on the Board, he was a member of the following committees: Veterans, Public Property and Health Care of Clark County.

He was a member of the Merry Vale School Board and a trustee of the York Center United Methodist Church and Cemetery Association for many years.

Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Patricia) Hinkelmann of Grand Junction, Colo.; a son, Ronald of Marshfield; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Wilson, Neillsville and Mrs. Ronald (Audrey) Weister, Marshfield; three brothers, Gale, Alexandria, La.; Donald, Greenwood and Verlan, Beloit; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
