Gregory, Cassie (19 April 1860 - 16 Sept. 1936)
Cassie McSwain was born April 19, 1860, at Monique, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Humbird, Sept. 16, 1936, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 27 days.
She moved with her parents to Alma Center when two years of age, and lived on a farm west of that village, known as the Peter Statz farm, until her marriage to Wm. Gregory, of Alma Center, on Feb. 21, 1883. They came to Humbird in 1894, and have resided in this community since.
There was born to their union eight children.
Three years ago last February Mr. and Mrs. Gregory were happy in celebrating their golden wedding anniversary, surrounded by their family and friends.
She was a patient suffer for three years, having four operations at an Eau Claire hospital, but never complaining nor losing courage until the last.
Those left to mourn her death are her husband and one brother, Commodore, of California; eight children, Mack, of Milwaukee; Omar, of Humbird; Robert and Harry, at Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Roy Andrews and Mrs. L. G. Faber, of Stevens Point. Will and Gladys preceded her in death. There were also twenty-one grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, the Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating and burial was in Alma Center Cemetery.
