Dorchester - 23 June 1882

Editors Times: "There’s a good time coming, and it will soon be here." Posters are out announcing a grand bowery dance and picnic day, and evening, on the ever-glorious Fourth of July. Music to be furnished by Dorchester brass and string band. A big time is anticipated. Few of the participants, however, can claim the Land of Liberty, as native land; and fewer yet could tell what the fourth of July means, more than a general jollifications.

I was is error last week, in my statement that our school closed today, it continues one week longer. The school in the southwestern part of this district closed today. Miss Martha Cushing, the teacher, will go to her home in Portage on Monday. She returns in August to take the school in the Boardman district.

Miss Lucy and Master Phil Latham left town Wednesday for a four weeks visit in Greenleaf, Wis.

Wilbur Cox, of River Falls, has been stopping in town several days. He thinks this is an exceptionally fine place to spend the summer vacation.

Miss Lelia Evans is recovering from her recent illness.

Master Louie Hunt continues to improve, and no new cases of scarlet fever are reported. We hope this dreaded epidemic will not reappear this season.

-- Davy.
