Merkel, Jean Cora (Marriage - 19 Jun. 1948)

Miss Jean Cora Merkel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Merkel of Marshfield and Gerhardt John Nikolai, of Unity, were married during a ceremony at Gesu Church in Milwaukee on Saturday, June 19.

The bride was gowned in traditional ivoryslipper satin. Ivory lace edged the square neckline of the bridal gown which was fashioned with a fitted bodice and long tight sleeves featuring lace cuffs. Her fingertip veil fell from a headdress with clusters of pearlized flowers at either side and she carried a shower bouquet of white daisies.

The bride’s sister, Miss Marian Merkel, Milwaukee, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Dorothy Haeffel, Milwaukee, and Miss Dorothy Altmann. Attending the bridegroom were his brother, John Nikolai, Jr., best man, and a brother of the bride, Kenneth Merkel, Milwaukee, groomsman. Ushers were two brothers of the bride, Donald Merkel and Jerome Altman.

After a two week’s wedding trip to Canada and northen Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Nikolai will be home to friends at 546 N. 15th St., Milwaukee.
