Tennis, Joanne (Marriage - 4 Sept. 1948)

An early fall wedding was read by Rev. Otto Hoffman at the Zion Lutheran Church at Colby on Saturday, September 4, which united in marriage Miss Joanne Tennis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Tennis, Unity and John W. Pribnow, son of Mrs. J. C. Pribnow, Loyal.

The bride was attired in a champaign satin gown, fashioned with a full skirt and fitted bodice. The sweetheart neckline was edged with ruehing. Her finger tip lace edged veil, was edged with trails of ivy which was worn by her grandmother 56 years ago. She carried a colonial bouquet of red roses and white gladioli.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, brother-in-law and sister of the groom, as best man and matron of honor; Miss Julianne Mandel, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid; Herbert Maier, cousin of the groom, ushered. Flower girls were the bride’s sister, Miss Janice Tennis, and nieces of the groom, Christine and Merry Miller.

The matron of honor wore a yellow colonial style taffeta gown and carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and orchid gladioli. The bridesmaid and flower girls wore varying colors of colonial style taffeta gowns and also carried colonial bouquets.

A six o’clock dinner was served and a reception was held for the immediate relatives at the home of the bride’s parents.

Mrs. Pribnow was graduated from the Unity, Wis. High School, and the groom from the Loyal High School.

The young couple are honeymooning in Canada and in a week will be in Loyal, where they are making their home.

Out of town relatives at the wedding included Mrs. Theresa Maier, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Maier, Hubert; Eugene and Gerald Maier, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Maier, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Pohl, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Minnie Laach, Abbotsford, Wis.

The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
