-Darling, Ella Cordelia (12 Dec. 1864 - 23 Jun. 1949)
Ella Cordelia Darling was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin, December 12, 1864. She was a pioneer resident of Unity, coming here in 1872 with her parents, Fitz Henry Darling and Ellen Lee Darling.
She was educated in the Unity schools and lived in the village until 1895 when the family moved to a farm south west of the village. They remained here until 1912 when they moved to Ocean Springs, Miss; the family consisting of Ella, her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph T. Vaughan.
Mr. and Mrs. Darling died and were interred in Ocean Springs cemetery in 1918-19.
In 1931, the family, Ella, and Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Vaughan, returned to Unity to take up their residence on their farm southwest of the village. The farm was sold in 1948 and they then moved to Spencer where Ella passed away June 23, 1949 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 11 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Bucholtz of Florence, Montana, and Mrs. Ralph T. Vaughan, of Spencer. Two sisters preceded her in death; Mrs. Elsie Murphy of Bellingham, Wash.; and Mrs. George McEwen, of New Orleans, Louisiana.
She lived a long life of service to her family until the weakness of many years overtook her strength.
