Higby, Ulysses G. (1865 - 1949)
Ulysses G. Higby, 83, Unity, died Monday at 11 a.m. at his home in the Town of Brighton.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, where the body lay in state, and at 2 p.m. at the Unity Methodist Church, the Rev. F. J. Smith and the Rev. R. J. Fleming officiating. Internment took place in the Colby cemetery.
Mr. Higby was born in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and came to this vicinity in 1895. He lived here for 39 years and had been a farmer. His marriage to Mae Crotteau, who died February 23, 1923, took place at Colby Feb. 19, 1899.
Surviving are five children, Charles, at home; Mrs. Norman (Gladys) Sehl, Wausau; Floyd, Dixon, Calif.; Frank, Martinez, Calif.; and Arthur, Chicago. Seven grandchildren also survive. A sister, Mrs. James Haymen, lives in Cumberland and a brother, Arthur, at Chicago.
A nephew, Jud Royce, formerly made his home with the Higby’s.

LaVon Domer sang "In The Garden" and "Nearer My God to Thee." She was accompanied by Mrs. Tom Loughead on the piano.
Persons attending from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Owen Stowe and daughter, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Royce, Jump River; Mrs. Harold Mitzlaff, Jump River; mrs. Art Handle, Stetsonville; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Higby and daughter, Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Forest Stowe and daughter, Minneapolis.
