On Saturday, August 20, at 3:00 P.M. in the rectory of St. Adrian’s Church, Chicago, Miss Eileen Sloat, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F. Sloat, Chicago, became the bride of Darrell E. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. Johnson, Chicago, formerly of Unity. Rev. Father Conlan officiated.

The bride wore a white satin gown with a long train and a long veil. She carried vanda orchids set on a white satin fan.

Attending the bride were Lillian Foerrtsch, as matron of honor and Aileen Hennessy as bridesmaid, who wore similar dresses of white organdy with yellow underskirts and yellow ?. They carried yellow daisies mounted on fans and wore yellow daisies in their hair.

Immediately following the wedding a supper was held at the famed Martinique in Chicago for the immediate families, followed by a reception for about 300 guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Johnson and family of Unity, brother of the groom, were in Chicago for the wedding.

The young couple spent a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin and will be at home in their apartment after Sept. 5.

The groom attended school in Unity where the family lived until moving to Chicago in 1941.

This is my Aunt and Uncle. My Aunt died of heart failure in the early 1980's and my Uncle is still alive and remarried later in life.
