Conrad Becker
Conrad Becker, 71, of Neillsville, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home on Snyder Lake following a courageous battle with cancer.
The Mass of Christian burial for Conrad will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville, Wis. The Celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist, Rita Kuckenbecker and Greg Michaud, vocalists, and St. Mary's Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, with an 8 p.m. Prayer Service at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis.
Conrad Joseph Becker was born Oct. 28, 1935, the son of Arthur and Viola (Loos) Becker. He was raised on 26th Road in Loyal all of his childhood and attended Lyons School, St. Anthony's Catholic School and Loyal High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1955. He was honorably discharged in August 1957, having attained the rank of military police corporal.
On Sept. 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Hainz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville, Wis. Conrad worked for Rollohome for two years and for American Motors/Chrysler in Kenosha for 30 years. He retired from AMC in 1989 then moved to Neillsville, where he worked for the Clark County Forest and Parks Department for 15 years.
While living in Kenosha, Conrad was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and enjoyed working for their home and school fundraisers. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville and was actively involved with their decorating committee. Conrad was also active with the Snyder Dam Restoration Fund Raising Project.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie "Marge" Becker; two daughters, Brenda Jean (Kevin) Cunningham of Racine and Sally Ann Becker of Kenosha; six siblings, Donald (Barb) Becker of Marshfield, Yvonne (Jim) Gies of Stevens Point, Dianne (Don) Pergande of Brookfield, Sister Mary Becker of LaCrosse, Harold (Rose) Becker of Sussex and Allen (Carol) Becker of Loyal.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Florence Hainz of Neillsville, and many nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Honorary casket bearers are LeRoy Kauth, Lyle Johnson and Fred Grap.
Casket bearers are Jack Taylor, Duane "Fuzz" Briski, Tom Behrns, Jim Gelander, Chad Young and Norm Steimke.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Conrad's family with funeral arrangements.
