Spencer, Wis. - Mrs. Emil (Elsie A.) Mellenthin, 85, Route 1, Spencer, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial House of Colby.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer, with the Rev. David J. Ault, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitations may be made after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rux Funeral Home in Spencer.
The former Elsie A. Schroeder was born Jan. 24, 1892, in the Town of Brighton and was married to Emil Mellenthin on Dec. 3, 1913, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple farmed on Route 1, Spencer, until retiring in 1952.
They observed their golden anniversary in 1963 and their 60th in 1973. The Mellenthins also reigned as king and queen during the 1974 centennial celebration of Unity Township.
Mrs. Mellenthin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Eldor, Spencer, Wis. a grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
