Schwantes, Rosalie Anna (3 Jun. 1903 - 14 Dec. 1991)

Spencer, Wis. - Rosalie Anna Schwantes, 88, Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford, formerly of Marshfield, died at 12:54 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted Thursday.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Mrs. Daniel Schwantes will be the organist for congregational singing. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be relatives, Verrill and Jeffrey Schwantes, Douglas and James Brandt, Thomas Niehaus and James Craft.

Visitation will be at Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield, from 7-9 tonight and then at the church after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

She was born June 3, 1903, in rural Clark County, to the late Albert and Marie (Buse) Schultz. She attended rural Clark County schools. She was married to Alvin Schwantes June 16, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Church, and he died June 12, 1985.

After her education, she lived with her parents until her marriage. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the town of Brighton until 1932. They then moved to the town of Sherman and farmed there until 1954. At that time they moved to Marshfield where she worked at various places, including Clover Cream Dairy, Normington Laundry, the Holiday Inn and Figi’s Inc., until her retirement. She continued to live in Marshfield after retirement and became a resident of the nursing home in September.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Marshfield Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Marshfield and Verlyn of Mosinee; one sister, Elsie Schultz of Marshfield; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one infant son, three sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
