Richard R. Grassman (Feb 16, 1923 - May 9, 2007)
GRANTON -- Richard Grassman, age 84, of Marshfield, formerly of Granton, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at his home.
Funeral services for Richard will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. Pastor Keith Lueneburg will officiate. Music will be provided by Marjorie Dahl, organist.
Interment will be in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery. Casket Bearers are Bruce Langrehr, Greg Langrehr, Joshua Thundercloud, David Hillert, Mike Kurth and Ryan Johnson.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church.
The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Richard's family with funeral arrangements.
Richard Robert Grassman was born on Feb. 16, 1923, in the town of Lynn to Alvin H. and Elsie A. (Kurth) Grassman. He attended school at the Sun Beam Grade School in the town of Lynn and graduated from the Granton High School. On Aug. 18, 1945, he was united in marriage to Edith Langrehr. Richard drove truck and semi-truck for Cenex along with sales.
He also worked as the undersheriff for Clark County for one year.
He was a life-long member of the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton and held various offices within the church. He was a 20-year member of the Granton Rotary and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Marshfield.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; two sons, Jack R. Grassman of Houston, Texas, and Gerald R. (Carol) Grassman of Black River Falls; three granddaughters, Jennifer Grassman of Black River Falls, Carolyn (Ryan) Johnson of Black River Falls and Margaret (Scott) Sedlar of Houston, Texas; two great-grandsons, Joshua Thundercloud and Nathan Johnson; and three great-granddaughters, Kaytlin Johnson, Sophia Sedlar and Amelia Sedlar.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
