Catherine Marie Podrovitz was born Nov. 26, 1914, in Milwaukee to Thomas and Martha (Jurasovich) Podrovitz. In 1917, her family moved to Tioga where they had purchased a farm. Katie was raised on the family farm and received her education at Church School. She was united in marriage to John Plautz on Dec. 8, 1930, in Waukegan, Ill. They lived in the Willard area where Katie was a homemaker and raised their daughter, Jeanette. Her husband, John, died on Dec. 6, 1973. She continued to live in the Willard area until 1999 at which time she moved to Greenwood. Katie resided in Greenwood until moving to the Neillsville Retirement Community, formerly Angelus, in the fall of 2004.

Katie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its CCW. She had many interests but especially enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing and traveling in her earlier years. In her later years Katie loved her card games and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette (Roger) Lange of DePere; granddaughter, Gail (Bill) Erskine of Williston, Vt.; nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; three sisters, Frances Plautz, Marie Farrel and Anna Roberson; and two brothers, Steve and George Podrovitz.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Katie's name will be established at a later date.
