Wampole, Amanda Bell (March 31, 1933 - April 25, 2007)
Amanda B. Wampole, age 74, of Thorp, died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley, on Wednesday, April 25, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Thorp Funeral Home. Rev. David Dugas officiated with graveside services and burial at the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Brandy Parkhurst, Samuel Wampole, James Wampole, Jesse Wampole, Nicholas Gwiazda and Glenn Fifer. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, April 29, 20097 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Amanda Bell Oldham was born on March 31, 1933 to Charles and Margaret (Dormandy) Oldham of rural Neillsville, Township of Pine Valley. She was united in marriage to Lyle Wampole on January 6, 1951 in Neillsville, Wis. After their marriage the couple operated a dairy farm in Fairchild, WI until 1969, at which time they moved to Thorp. The Wampoles then farmed in Thorp until 1978. Amanda had several jobs following the couple’s retirement from farming. She also owned and operated the Ice Cream Parlor in Thorp for several years. She enjoyed caring for her many grandchildren, quilting and crafts.
Amanda is survived by her seven children: Lynn (Scott) Ford of Thorp, Wayne (Janet) of Neillsville, Bryan of Thorp, Carol (Keith) Haas of Thorp, Bonnie (Brian) Gwiazda of Chippewa Falls, Judy Wampole of Thorp, and Jennifer (Brian) Haas of Thorp; twenty-two grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; seven brothers: Gordon (Shirley) Oldham of Greenwood, Dick (Paulette) Oldham of Viroqua, Wayne "Bill" Oldham of Neillsville, Ronald "Dusty" (Lois) Oldham of Neillsville, Frank (Charlotte) Oldham of Granton, Kenneth Oldham of Neillsville, and Donald Oldham of Granton; four sisters: Betty (Edgar) Ott of Ripon, June (Jack) Kluckhohn of Neillsville, Bonnie "Jean" (Bill) Mitte of Neillsville, and Donna (Jeff) Siltala of Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle on June 17, 1992; two daughters: Barbara Kronberger and Yvonne Wampole; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Wampole; two grandsons: Kevin and Andy Wampole; one great-grandson, Devon; and two brothers: Marvin and Walter "Bunnie" Oldham.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
