Editors Times: The writer hereof has failed to communicate for your paper during the last two weeks, from the fact that outside of business not a single moment could be found. How every your paper has too wide a circulation in our little corner of the same devoted to the interests of our thrifty people, who are thrice busy at the present time.

It is real winter every day, the thermometer ranging way below zero and the loggers never had a better prospect for a winter’s harvest than now; many of them in this vicinity are already landing logs on the frozen streams.

Our household is glad once more to welcome the smiling faces of B. F. Brown and wife from Dakota, and we hope to have them remain with us during the winter. Brown is one of our old time campers on many a tented field while after the prairie chickens and many are the incidents that are oft related around our genial hearth-stone. Gentle readers, when convenient, ask Doc. Thomas to relate the story of one of our campaigns where he figured so conspicuously and held the picket line under a terrible rain of fire, having one horse shot from under him, while Doc. Eaton ventured our from behind a hazel bush with a flag of truce that firing might cease and the remnants or our campers be gathered in who were laying low in reserve.

Do you know what makes Jim Bryden look so happy? It’s became he has a partner in the logging business, under the firm name of Bryden & Son.

Rumor says also, that another little daughter graces the household of Chas. Miller.

Well and truly can we say God bless the little ones, for they are the dew drops and sunshine of earth, and holy writ says: "of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Mrs. Nettie Ostrander of Wadena, Minn., has been visiting, Mrs. A. S. Eaton during portion of the week. They are the same pair that used to steal the preserves of their boarding mistress years ago, while attending school at Galesville.

Mrs. J. Nesbit, of Onalaska, is now boarding at the Weston House; and by the way, that house is full to its uttermost capacity with the traveling public.

Mrs. Andy Nevins, of La Crosse will board with Mrs. Schofield this winter.

Laughing Susie Sirwell, from Menomonie, will be here in about two weeks.

The roll of accidents in the camps has commenced with a broken leg in Palmer’s camp. Dr. Thomas has set the limb and had the man brought out to the Begley House.

Mrs. Jack Sones, of La Crosse, is visiting with Mrs. B. F. Thompson.

Don’t forget to look into Dr. Thomas’ and see the piles of new Christmas goods, and don’t forget to lay something to make the little one’s happy.

Our school close today. Mr. Dunlap and Belladona have both been engaged for the next term, which of itself is a sufficient recommendation as to their qualification as teacher.

Every one says we have an excellent minister here this term. Send him a few turkeys for Christmas, that he may indeed be thankful with the rest.

L. R. Warner and his fair bride have started on the great journey of life and if the pitfalls of life are no thicker than the writer could wish, their journey will indeed be smooth and their life canoe will sail not on trouble waters.
