Dorchester (15 Dec. 1882)

Editors Times: Our little town is booming. In spite of severe weather and deep snow the work goes bravely on. Our busy merchants testify to the numerous camps to be supplied.

The rumor is that Van Dusen & Co. do not intend to run their mill in Dorchester, longer than till this stock is disposed of. However, we have a new mill in process of construction. Messrs. Cleffmann & Loring, proprietors.

A Christmas drama, to be followed by a Christmas tree, is the talk just now. The drama, "The Last Loaf," promises to be entertaining. With Aug. Homsted in the character of Ashton, and Miss Bertha Van Dusen as leading lady, supported by the following talent, it must of necessity be a success; Ed Rubin, as the stammering butcher; Orla Foster, as the Baker; Miss Lelia Evans, as Lilly; Miss Carrie Tennant, as Patty Jones; Harry Norton, as Lilly’s lover; and Dr. Phelan as the bad man. If you have dearth of amusement at Neillsville, come and enjoy this holiday entertainment.

Rev. C. Vanlstenbugge, of Stevens Point, is to preach on Sunday in stead of Rev. Patch.

Mrs. John Miltmore enjoyed a visit from her uncle, Mr. Cushing, of Broton, Mass., last week. Mr. Crushing left on Saturday for Nebraska.

Mr. Truman Evans, of Dakota, is in town, guest of his sister, Mrs. E. H. Winchester. He intends to winter in Wisconsin.

Miss Evan Russell returned home on Tuesday from a two weeks visit at Planfield. Miss Emma Crow intends going to school in town for the winter.

Mr. Mel. Warren is in town, gust of his sister, Mrs. Dick Tennant. Mr. Warren’s home is in Missouri.

Please allow Davy to wish you a merry Christmas and many happy New Years.
