Harriman, Mr./Mrs. James (Golden - 1 Jan. 1883)
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. James Harriman of this city was celebrated at their residence on Monday evening, Jan. 1, 1883. Five of their eighty children, who are still living, were present. Mrs. J. W. St. John, of Volga, Dakota, Mrs. Wm. Somerside, of Necedah, Wis., Mrs. Sanford Coggins, of Neillsville, Wis., Mrs. Mary Edgbert, of Barron Co., Wis., and Mr. A. M. Harriman, of Weston, Wis. A large number of guests from this city were present. The presents were numerous and valuable, amounting to $340. Mr. Wm. Brown, of Portland, Me., sent $50, in gold, the son and daughters presented $55 in gold, and friends in Neillsville sent $40 in gold. Mr. and Mrs. Harriman were married in Clinton, Maine, Jan. 1, 1833. They have resided in Neillsville about eleven years. Mr. Harriman is seventy-seven years old and Mrs. Harriman seventy-four and both are in good health and have promise of many years yet. No people of our city are more respected than this couple and the qualities which have won the esteem of our citizens brought also on their golden wedding day wishes by all their friends that their future life might be happy and serene.
