Dutcher, Mary N. (? - 2 May 1883)
In this city, May 2nd, Mrs. Mary N. Dutcher, wife of A. A. Dutcher, aged 39 years.
The scepter of death has once more appeared in our midst and carried away one of the most beloved of our little community. Little was it thought by the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dutcher when, two weeks ago, they were congratulating them on the birth of a son, that today one would be receiving the sympathy of a community for one of the most heartrending bereavements that can occur to man in this world, and that the other would be laid beneath the damp, cold sods of an untimely grave. Mrs. Dutcher combined the two highest attainments of the true woman; a gaiety and vivacity that laughed away the little cares and worries of life, and the pure, noble, unselfish love of the affectionate wife and mother. The two daughters and the little son have lost the love affection of one of the truest of mothers, a lost that can never be replaced by any of the gifts of this life. The husband has lost the companionship, love and affection of the wife of his first choice. They all have the sincere sympathy and condolence of the entire community. The remains were taken to Madison on the 3d and laid at rest near the scenes of her early childhood.
