Melander, Gust (17 Mar. 1872 - 20 Jul. 1950)

Gust Melander, 78, of the Town of Unity, passed away in the Marathon County Hospital at Wausau Thursday, July 20. Cause of death was a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, with burial in the parish cemetery, The body was taken to the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby where it rested until the time of removal to the church at 11 A.M. Monday.

Rev. Larson of Wisconsin Rapids officiated at the services. The choir sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "We Shall Sleep But Not Forever" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Henry Binning.

Mr. Melander lived in the Town of Unity 43 years. He once was a member of the town board.

Mr. Melander was married to Hannah Olson Oct. 5, 1895 in Chicago. He was a member of the Unity IOOF and the Masonic Lodge of Colby.

Surviving are a son, Edward, Town of Brighton; a brother, Charles, Chicago; two sisters, mrs. Albert Johnson and Mrs. Gust Rydeberg, Unity; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There are also two brothers and three sisters in Sweden.

Pallbearers were Rod Marcus, Frank Goeltz, H. H. Christofferson, Clarence Nelson, Carl Holtzhausen, and Harold Kleissig.

In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Vilas Luepke, Mrs. Victor Anderson, Mrs. Harold Yost, Mrs. E. R. Burnett, Mrs. Anton Schjonneman, Mrs. Ray Tippelt, Mrs. Corwin Dallman, Mrs. Alvin Schweke, Mrs. Frank Tippelt, Mrs. Earl Ringquist, Mrs. Elmer Djerf, and Mrs. Lester Ewert.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Melander, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Melander, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schweke, Ladysmith; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tippelt, Marshfield.
