Brecke, Sigrid (Heikkinen) (16 Jun 1918 - 07 May 2007)
Sigrid Brecke, 88, Dorchester, died Monday, May 7th, 2007 at Our House Senior Living under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10th, 2007 at Maurina Funeral Home Abbotsford, Wis. The Reverend Dennis Govier will preside. Pallbearers will be Scott and Thor Thompson, Dale and Dean Prochnow, Kevin and Jared Stieber, Chad Erickson, Jason, Rory and Jessie Brecke and Edward Brecke III. Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Sigrid was born June 16th, 1918, in the Town of Hoard to Hjalmer and Marie Heikkinen.
She and Edward Brecke Sr. were married Sep 6th, 1937. Edward died June 1st, 1993.
Sigrid and Edward started the Brecke Mink Ranch and farmed in the Town of Holton. She cooked and cleaned for the hired help and made homemade meals. Sigrid also did bookkeeping for the mink ranch and farm.
They moved to Dorchester in 1981.
Sigrid is survived by her children, Edward (Ann) Brecke Jr., Stetsonville, Arla (Dale) Thompson, Monroe, Bonnie (Dale) Prochnow, Medford, Marlene (Doug) Erickson, Hinckley, MN, Gerald (Patti) Brecke, Stetsonville, Kathy Brecke, Dorchester and Laurie (Peter) Stieber, Cedar Grove; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Arvid and Toivo and three sisters, Jane, Cecelia and Ina.
Maurina-Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
