COLBY -- Zona R. Boettcher, age 79, of Colby, died peacefully Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at the First United Church of Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth Dix will officiate. Suzanne Dix will provide music for congregational hymns. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Boettcher was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Marshfield, a daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Holmes) Hines. She attended Marshfield elementary and high schools and the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Zona received her teaching credentials from the Stout Institute, Menomonie.
On June 5, 1954, the former Zona R. Hines was united in holy marriage to Joseph H. Boettcher. Joseph preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2000.
Mrs. Boettcher taught junior and senior high school home economics in Iola, Pittsville and Abbotsford, as well as a variety of adult classes at the North Central and Mid-State technical colleges.
Zona was a member of the Colby, First United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild. She also belonged to the Social Corners Homemakers, Dorchester Quilt Club, Curtiss Corners Quilters, Piecemaker's Quilt Guild, Colby Lioness, Marshfield Area Retired Educators Association, Bridge Club and the Book Club. In addition she was a telecare volunteer at Colonial Center, Colby. Mrs. Boettcher also served as clerk for the town of Hull for a number of years.
Zona is lovingly survived by a daughter, Shelby (Jim) Justus, Holcombe; and a son, Brian (Laurie Freeman) Boettcher, LaCrescent, Minn.; grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Shani and Jordan Boettcher, Kelly and Dana Justus.
Beside her husband, an infant son, Randall Lee Boettcher, preceded Zona in death.
