Olson, Alma (12 Jul. 1874 - 26 Sept. 1951)

Mrs. Martin Olson, Thorp, Wisconsin died at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley Monday evening, September 26 at 10 o’clock at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 14 days. She had been a patient there for the past four months, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. She was the daughter of the Axel Johnson’s and was born in Mellerud, Sweden. At the age of twenty-five years she came to America and resided in Brooklyn, N.Y.

On Christmas Eve, 1904, she was married to Martin Olson and they resided in New York until 1919 when they moved to Unity and engaged in farming.

In 1936 they moved to Thorp where they have since resided.

She is survived by her husband and one son, Arthur, of Thorp, two grandchildren, Robert, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force in Wichita Falls, Texas and Gerald of Thorp. Two daughters died in infancy. Surviving are also one sister, Mrs. Anna Dalin of Mellerud, Sweden, and three brothers, Eric Johnson, Unity; Carl of Stetsonville and Andrew of New York.

Funeral services were conducted at the Thorp Funeral Home and at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, on Saturday, September 29th with the Rev. M. K. Zimmerman officiating. She was buried in the Lutheran cemetery in Unity.

Leif Larson, Wm. J. Klouda, Arthur Kenney, Frank Kinas, Kenneth Lingquist and Walter Koltis acted as pallbearers.

Flowers were carried by Mrs. Roy Justman, Mrs. A. W. Justman, Mrs. Art Edblom, Mrs. Ella Stark, Mrs. Mary Wieland, and Mrs. John Johnson.

Relatives from Minneapolis, Stetsonville, Waupaca, Owen, Thorp and Colby attended the funeral.

The Choir sang "Face To Face" and "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" accompanied by Mrs. Walter Wieland on the organ.
