Colby - 22 Dec. 1883

Indications of snow and considerable cold weather those days.

George B. Parkill is home from Madison for the holidays. He leaves Monday for Green Lake, where he will visit a while before resuming his studies in the law school.

The fall term of the village school ended yesterday. The teachers, J. F. Sims and Miss Della White, will spend their vacation of two weeks - the former at Manitowoc and the later at Omro.

At a meeting of the Colby Hook and Ladder Co., on Thursday evening, F. Bredemeyer and L. Woodbury were elected trustees. The company is to be incorporated under the laws of the state.

Miss Isabel Bullock returned from Milwaukee, where she had been attending Milwaukee College, on Friday. She will return to school after the holidays.

Colby is to be supplied with fresh beer after this. Parties from Medford are building an ice house, north of Merrit’s feed store, with a capacity for a car load of the foamy beverage.

N. L. and John Kandy drove up from Loyal Wednesday and remained in town over Thursday.

The ladies of the village have made preparations for a good time on Christmas even, and a number of the little ones of the village, will doubt less receive a visit from St. Nick.

People in the vicinity of Colby consider the Times as the best local *Rest cut off. ***
