Gates, Aaron C. (? - May 1884)

Gates - In the town of Weston, Clark County, Wis., after a long and sever illness, Mrs. Aaron C. Gates, brother of Mr. Daniel Gates, of this city.

Mr. Gates came to Clark County about twelve years ago, and settled with his sons on a farm just south of Jones Tompkin’s place. His wife, whose maiden name was Maria F. Sawyer, still survives. Of four children, three sons are still living; Cortes, Sylvanus and George. He had one grand-child.

He was an honest citizen, a good neighbor; a kind husband and father. During the long years of declining health he took but little part in public affairs; therefore he was but little known in the country at large.

His funeral was attended on Monday from the Presbyterian Church in Neillsville, Wis.
