Mrs. Mary Harris passed away at her home on Sunday evening at 6:15 following a long illness. She was formerly Miss Mary Ann Verkuilen. She was born in Hollandtown on Dec. 6, 1883. When a small child, she moved with her parents to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where she grew to womanhood. She was a graduate of the Thorp High School and taught school for eight years.
On June 10, 1910, she was united in marriage to Guy S. Harris. Four children were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death in 1920. Surviving are her four children, Ethel, Alfred, Arthur and Guy at home, also four sisters, Frances (Mrs. F.M. Schmidt) and Annette (Mrs. G.W. Ebben) of Thorp, Annie (Mrs. A. Dionne) of Manawa and Barbara (Mrs. J. Reuter) of Wausau. She also leaves one brother, Albert Verkuilen of this city.
The funeral was held yesterday morning at 9:30 from St. Ann’s Church, Father Dionne of Manawa, a nephew of the deceased, officiated, assisted by Rev. A.J. Mueller. Members of the Women’s Catholic Order of foresters were honorary pallbearers. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Wilfred Vanderhyden of Thorp, Lawrence Simon, Andrew Theirl, Andrew Korn, Anton Heiting and Richard Moore.
