Kopp, Esther (22 Sept. 1902 - 25 Apr. 1970)

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Ferdinand Kopp, 67, of route 5, Marshfield, Wisconsin who died of an apparent heart attack at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she was admitted earlier in the day.

The Rev. Eldore Messerschmidt, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Neillsville cemetery. Visitations may be made at the Hansen Funeral Home here until 11 a.m. Tuesday, and then at the church.

The former Esther Schwantes was born Sept. 22, 1902, at Spencer, where she received her education. She was married there June 22, 1923, to Alfred Gehrke who preceded her in death March 13, 1949. Her second marriage was to Ferdinand Kopp in July of 1951.

Mrs. Kopp lived at Spencer until her marriage and then lived for a short time at Sheboygan Falls and Clintonville. She came to Marshfield in 1942 and was employed with the Weyerhaeuser Company until retiring in 1964.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and of the Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Buttke, Marshfield; Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Florence, Loyal; Mrs. George (Gloria) Florence, Pittsville; three stepchildren, William Marks, Neillsville; and Mrs. Kopp, Cambridge, Wis.; Albert Hattie Schwarze, Marshfield; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Schultz, Spencer; Mrs. Oscar Carlson, Unity; Mrs. Arden Douglas, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Leo Klein, Mosinee; and two brothers, Arthur Schwantes and Herbert Schwantes, both of Spencer.

The family suggests that any memorial be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
