Crothers, George (29 Mar. 1930 - 1 June 2007)

George Herbert Crothers, 77, of Neillsville died at his home June 1, 2007.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and also from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday before the service at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

He was born March 29, 1930, on the family farm near Neillsville to Donald and Elizabeth (Quinnell) Crothers. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951. While stationed in Pensecola, Florida he met his future wife, Betty Sue Shoults. They were married Nov. 6, 1955, in her hometown of Lawley, Alabama. George raised Hereford beef cattle, and worked for HSCS and Gaier Construction.

He is survived by his wife, Sue of 51 years and sons: Edward (Lynn) Crothers, Neillsville, George A. (Judy) Crothers, Neillsville, Donald (fiance Rita) Crothers, Neillsville and Stephen (Karola) Crothers, Portland, Ore.; daughters: Melanie (Kevin) Gaddis, Neillsville and Carolyn Lane (friend Aslam) of Spring Lake Park, Minn, and by 16 grandchildren.
