Henkel, Meta (29 Apr. 1883 - 12 Aug. 1931)

Mrs. Charles Henkel of the town of Hull suddenly passed away last week Wednesday evening, August 12, of diabetes after a year’s illness. Funeral services were held at the Colby M. E. church, Saturday, Aug. 15th, Rev. F. M. Blish officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were John Weix, William Meyer, Andrew Arends, William Schorer, Edward Oehmichen, Theo. Hake. The flower girls were Mrs. Alma Smith, Sylvia Brehm, Mrs. Celia Reyer and Mrs. Lucie Houghmut.

The deceased, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bodenstab, was born in Racine, Wis., April 29th, 1883, thus reaching the age of forty-eight years, three months and thirteen days. She was married to Mr. Charles Henkel in Colby on May 29, 1918, who survives her. She is also survived by three children - Oscar Michiaelsen, June Henkel and Anita Henkel, all of Colby - and one brother, and one sister - Hugo Bodenstab of Sheboygan, Wis., and Mrs. Emil Gruetzner of Milwaukee, Wis.

The out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Bodenstab, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gruetzner, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hertel, Spring Valley; Mrs. Fred Walters, Sheboygan Falls; Mrs. Henry Mueller, Milwaukee.

Mrs. Henkel was a good every day Christian and her life is marked with deeds of kindness and cheer, but a year ago she became ill, and, despite all the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious household could devise and apply for her comfort, her spirit took its flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of the life everlasting.
