Werner, Rosa (8 Aug. 1876 - 2 Dec. 1931)

Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob Werner, whose death was chronicled in this paper last week, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the St. John’s Evangelical church in Colby, Rev. G. F. Hahn officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Six sons, Arthur, Paul, Marvin, Arnold, Alvin and Reinhold Werner acted as pall bearers and Evelyn Schillinger, Nellie Schorer, Virginia Schorer, Ruth Amerson, Lilia Hening, Viola Ballerstem and Leona Koeppen, acted as flower girls.

Mrs. Werner, nee Rosa Schorer, was born in Wangen, Bern, Switzerland, August 8th, 1876, thus reaching the age of fifty-five years, three months and twenty-four days. She came to the United States with her parents when she was four years old and settled in Sheboygan county. In 1894, she was married to Mr. Jacob Werner and came directly to Colby where she lived for the past thirty-seven years. She passed on to the Great Beyond Wednesday, December 2, at 5:30 after an illness of eighteen months.

Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Adelia Gerlach, Sheboygan; Mrs. Leona Borchert, Sheboygan Falls; and Mrs. Frieda Koeppen, Colby; seven sons; Arthur, Elkhart Lake; Paul, Northwood, Iowa; Marvin, Arnold, Alvin, Raymond and Reinhold, all of Colby and the following sisters and brothers: Gottlieb, Ernest, Fritz, and Rudolf Schorer, Mrs. Emma Schulz, Mrs. Anna Klein, Elkhart Lake; Mrs. Leona Lemke, Milwaukee; Louis Schorer, Abbotsford; and Robert and William Schorer of Colby. She also leaves five grandchildren.

Mrs. Werner was a member of St. John’s Evangelical church and the Ladies Aid Society. She was a faithful member of her church and just as faithful in doing her duties in her every-day life. In her heart she carried those she loved and her hand was never weary when caring for those who were in any way dependent upon her.
