Meyer, Leona A. (7 SEP 1936)
A very pretty wedding occurred Monday morning at 9 o’clock, Sept. 7, 1936, at the Wonewoc Catholic Church when Miss Leona Angeline Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Meyer, Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Alphonse Clements Diers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Diers, Athens, Wisconsin.
The ceremony was read by the Rev. Hugo Diers, brother of the groom. Attending were Miss Armela Diers, sister of the groom, and Raymond Meyer, brother of the bride.
The bride chose a tunic gown of dark brown silk for her wedding with corresponding accessories and carried a prayer book and rosary. Her bridesmaid wore a dark fall suit with corresponding accessories.
Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the Rev. H. Diers home to the bridal party and after a short trip through southern Wisconsin and the Dells, the party returned to Athens, where the couple will make their temporary home. A wedding dance was held in the evening at Hinke’s hall.
The newlyweds will be at home to their friends immediately at Athens, where the groom is employed as foreman of construction of the Athens Community Hall.
The many friends of both bride and groom join us in wishing them the best of success and joy in their future life.
