Stevens, Martha (10 OCT 1819 - 30 MAY 1898)
Mrs. Martha Stevens, formerly Mrs. Bullard, and born Miss Martha Gasser, died Monday, May 30, 1898, at 2:10 p.m., of bronchitis at the home of her son, Warren C. Bullard, in this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.), aged 78 years, 7 months and 20 days, and was buried yesterday at 10:30 a.m. from the Presbyterian Church, Rev. T.C. Hill officiating, and the remains were interred at Weston.
Deceased was born in Switzerland and came to this country when 12 years of age. Her first husband, Sanford W. Bullard, father of Andrew J., Geo. W. and W. C. Bullard, died 39 years ago, and the second husband, Mr. Stevens, died 25 years ago. Besides the three sons above mentioned, she had two other sons, one of whom died in the army and one was drowned at St. Cloud, Minn. She leaves two daughters, residing out west.
For some years she had resided at Little Falls, Minn., but last fall came here to reside with her sons, and for some time, up to a few days before her death, had lived with Andrew, but having caught cold while attending Andrew, who a couple of weeks ago, had his hand hurt by a runaway horse, she came to town to see a doctor, and while here became so sick that she had to stop with Warren, where she died.
