Myers, Isaiah (7 FEB 1833 - 14 DEC 1898)
Last Wednesday evening, at 4 o’clock Isaiah Myers breathed his last at the Schmall Hotel, aged 66 years, death resulting from uremia. He was buried Thursday, by the Workman Lodge, Rev. Longenecker officiating.
Isaiah Myers was born Feb. 7, 1833, at Newfield, Tompkins Co., N.Y. He resided a number of years at Grand Rapids where he engaged in the safe and fanning mill business as a member of the firm of Potts & Myers, who, in 1872, moved their business to Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.). Later he quit that business and with C.C. Sniteman bought out his brother Henry Meyers’ drug store. Mr. Sniteman later bought out his interest, and later Lige bought Gilbert Johnson’s general store on the north side, which did not turn out well. Since then he has lived alone in a small cottage back of the O’Neill House property, cooking for himself, and in broken health. He leaves three brothers, John of Genoa, N.Y., Abraham and Henry, and a sister, Mrs. Maria Brooks, who lives in Michigan. Both parents, a sister and brother are dead. His life was insured for $2,000 in the Workman Lodge, and $700 of this goes to those who kept up his dues and supplied him money during his sickness, the balance going to his brother Henry.
