Griepentrog, Bernice (29 Aug. 1933 - 29 Sept. 1997)

Spencer - Bernice Griepentrog, 64, Spencer, died Sept. 29, 1997, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate.

Burial will be at West Spencer Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Community Funeral Home in Spencer.

Bernice was born on Aug. 29, 1933, in Unity, to Frank and Leona (Singstock) Ertl. She was married to Eugene Griepentrog on Sept. 11, 1948, in Spencer.

Mrs. Griepentrog received her education in Granton, Neillsville and Spencer schools. She worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. for nine years, from 1954 to 1963, and then at Land O’Lakes for 32 years until her retirement in July 1995.

After retiring, she was an active volunteer for the Ponderosa meal program, Goodwill and the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed traveling extensively and watching football. She had a deep love and devotion to her family.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Griepentrog; three sons, Alan (Mary) Griepentrog of Abbotsford, Roger (Mary Ann) Griepentrog and Ronald (Debra) Griepentrog, all of Spencer; three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Paschke of Spencer, Diane Chapman of Wausau and Connie (Tom) Fehrenbach of Marshfield; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Ertl of Dunbar.

She was predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Dorothy Wilhelmine; a sister, Dorothy Ertl, a brother, Clarence Ertl; and a grandson, Corey Griepentrog.
