Umhoefer, Catherine A. (9 Apr. 1916 - 16 Aug. 1986)

Colby - A former Colby resident, Mrs. Paul A. (Catherine A.) Umhoefer, 70, Madison, died early Saturday morning at Madison General Hospital.

Services were held today at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Middleton. The Rev. Stephen Umhoefer officiated. Burial was at 3 p.m today at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Colby.

Visitation was Sunday and this morning until time of services at Joyce Funeral Home, Madison.

The former Catherine A. Williams was born April 9, 1916, in Madison, to Mr. and Mrs. George Williams. She attended school in Madison.

She was married to Paul A. Umhoefer, Colby, Aug. 26, 1939, at St. James Catholic Church, Madison. He died Oct. 17, 1966.

She was assistant librarian at Colby, Wis. High School until she moved to Madison in 1978.

She was a member of Christian Mothers Society of St. Mary’s Church, Colby, and the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are five sons, Paul Jr., Baraboo, Phillip, Denver, Mark, Fitchburg, James. Sauk Centre, Minn., and Joseph, Kasson, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Ann) Schwartz, Mankato, Minn., and Margaret Umhoefer, Denver; two brothers, Tom Williams, Fairhope, Ala., and George Williams, Oregon; two sisters, Mary Williams, Madison, and Alice Williams, Stoughton, and seven grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, and one brother, William Williams.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
