Another Fatal Accident
Antone Hetzler Killed in Marsh’s Saw Mill, in the Town of Loyal.
Last Thursday about 11 a.m. an accident occurred in J. C. Marsh’s saw-mill in the town of Loyal which resulted in the death of Antone Hetzler, employee. A board caught on the top of the edging saw and was thrown with such violence as to break the left arm and crush in the side of Mr. Hetzler. Dr. Mulvey, of Loyal, was sent for, who did all that could be done for the sufferer, but he expired about 7 o’clock in the evening. Mr. Hetzler was about 32 years old and had a wife and two children, and lived about half a mile from the mill. He has been very unfortunate during the past year. Some months ago he lost two and three fingers, and when able to work again, he cut one of his feet, and was just getting around again, when the last and fetal accident occurred. The family was left in poor circumstances, and the boys at work in Mr. Marsh’s mill, with the usual generosity of those who level the forest or convert the product thereof into an article of utility, raised a purse of about $80 for the family, besides paying several out standing debts of Mr. Hetzler. Mr. J. C. Marsh paid the doctor’s bill besides contributing to the fund. All honor to the men who so generously acquitted themselves in relieving the widow and children of their fellow workingman.
