Bruley, Mary Philomena (15 May 1845 - 24 April 1885)

Died - At Neillsville, April 24th, 1885, Mrs. Mary Philomena Bechamp Bruley, wife of Emery Bruley, aged thirty-nine years, eleven months and nine days.

The death of Mrs. Bruley was sudden and unexpected. On Friday afternoon her husband was notified at this store that Mrs. Bruley was dying. He ran to the house only to find her dead. She had been in poor health for a year or two, but had been able to be out a good deal. On pleasant days she was frequently seen driving about town.

Mrs. Bruley was born at the city of Ottawa, Canada, May 15, 1845. She was married to Emery Bruley at Ottawa, September 17, 1863, and came to Wisconsin in the fall of 1865. While her husband has pursued his business industriously, accumulating property until he has become one of the leading merchants of Neillsville, she has been his devoted Christian companion.

The funeral services were conducted yesterday at 10 o’clock a.m. at the Catholic Church, Rev. Father Volz officiating. There was a large concourse of Mrs. Bruley’s friends to assist in the last sad rites. In the discourse the reverend father alluded to the fact that Mrs. Bruley three weeks before assisted in decorating the altar for Easter service, thus evincing her devotion to the church.

Mrs. Bruley stood high among our people. She will be mourned not only by relatives but by all our citizens who knew her. She leaves no children. Her mother still resides at Ottawa, and she has three sisters living.

CARD OF THANKS

I hereby tender my thanks to the many friends who kindly assisted in performing the last sad rites upon the death of my lamented wife.

Neillsville, Wis., April 27, 1885

Emery Bruley
